Planning for Tembea Na Mimi 2025

has started!

We are thrilled to announce the 6th Tembea Na Mimi charity walk across the majestic landscapes of Kenya, set to take place in June of 2025. This is not just a walk. It’s an extraordinary adventure for a great cause, and we invite you to be a part of this remarkable journey!

An adventure for a cause

Since our first walk in 2015, we’ve covered nearly 800 miles and raised over $600,000 to support Lalmba’s vital work in Africa. That’s an incredible $750 for every mile trekked! Every step taken and every dollar raised have been instrumental in helping children access education, providing nourishment to families, restoring health to the sick, and bringing dignity to elders. Your participation continues this impactful legacy.

Here’s your chance to turn your passion for adventure into a powerful act of charity. By joining the 2025 walk, you’ll not only experience the adventure of a lifetime through Kenya’s awe-inspiring landscapes, but you’ll also be directly contributing to the empowerment of communities in need.

Each walker commits to covering their own travel expenses and sets a personal fundraising goal of at least $10,000 for Lalmba. The funds raised go directly towards our mission, making a tangible difference in the lives of many.

The exact route is still to be determined, but like past walks we plan to journey across the Masai Mara and rural Kenya to Lalmba’s clinic on the shores of Lake Victoria. Along the way we walk with majestic wildlife, see small farming communities and towns, and experience all that Kenya has to offer. Then, as we approach the magical end of our trek at Lalmba’s Matoso clinic, surrounded by smiling faces and a chorus of gratitude, you’ll realize this is more than just a walk. It’s a celebration of hope, strength, and the extraordinary impact we can have when we walk together.

Are you or someone you know interested in stepping up for this life-changing experience? We invite you to reach out for more information, ask questions, or fill out an application (coming soon). Become a part of this incredible journey that combines the thrill of exploration with the joy of giving.

What Is The Cost?

At this point (August 2024) we don’t have the costs worked out yet. Roughly speaking its about $4,000 – $6,000 per person plus airfare. That’s a pretty broad range, and its an expensive trip. So, let us explain how the pricing works.

Tembea Na Mimi 2025 will be our 6th walk. Our walks occur on the odd years (2015, 2017, …), so every two years, we get to learn how prices have changed and renegotiate just about everything. We’ve switched hotels, transportation, etc. over the years to find the best prices.  But, there is really only one group in all of Kenya that does camel safaris. Fortunately we know them well!

There are also some fixed costs associated with the camel safari like transporting the camels to the starting location and getting them back home. These costs are distributed across the team, so the more walkers the lower the price! As the date gets closer, and we start to know how large the team will be, we can negotiate the pricing and start making reservations.

For TNM 2025, we already have a good sized team!  That’s great news!

But we still have room for more! Join us for an adventure of a lifetime and support a great cause while doing it!
